As a class, we completed our baseline beginning-of-the-year assessment in Math today. This test will help all your child's teachers plan for instruction and chart your child's academic growth over the course of the entire school year.  We'll take a similar English-Language Arts test tomorrow morning in Mr. Coe's home after the school-wide assembly in the Gym.

Today we:

• determined the meaning and modification of nouns and verbs performed by -ly suffix words in the context of chapter 2 of our lit-study book, Night of the Spadefoot Toad.
• Took a current events quiz to demonstrate our present level of proficiency writing complete sentences and identifying the main idea and other facts in informational text.
• Wrote out our evidence and conclusions as established by a paper folding activity in Science class
• Identified and discussed component parts and features of political maps
