Snowbowl Fieldtrip THURSDAY!

Hello everyone,

A friendly reminder: Thursday, February 13, is our SNOWBOWL FIELDTRIP!

I will be in touch by phone with all our lodge- and skiing-chaperones early next week to confirm your attendance.

Students should arrive at school no later than 8:15 on Thursday morning in order to board the bus for departure from the school at that time.

Students who have ordered a sack lunch to be prepared by the cafeteria can pick them up beginning at 8:00 in the morning on Thursday.  Students may bring their own lunch or they may purchase a lunch at the Snowbowl lodge.  The food services at Snowbowl are more than adequate, and the portion sizes tend to be generous, but they can be rather expensive.

Students must bring clothing suitable for a day in the snow at altitude including gloves, jackets, snowpants, socks, and headwear*.  Snowbowl will provide rental skis, rental boots and complimentary sunglasses to all attendees.  Water will be provided in the lodge free-of-charge.

Lodge parents and skiing chaperones may drive themselves to Snowbowl in the morning and meet us in the southeast corner of Hart Prairie Lodge around 8:45.  Passes and rental equipment will be distributed beginning around 9:00. Our on the snow lesson will begin at about 10:00 and conclude at noon.

Students who are experienced skiers and snowboarders, and all our skiing or snowboarding chaperones, will be able to enjoy riding/skiing the mountain during the lesson time from 10:00-12:00.  Please note, the Agassiz chairlift, serving the upper mountain, is still closed at this time, however the balance of the mountain should be open on Thursday morning.

We will all eat together in the Lodge at noon and then ski in small groups on Hart Prairie from about 12:30 until 3:30.  All students and adults must have their rental equipment returned no later than 3:45.  The bus to take us back to school should arrive a little after 4:00.

All parents should be prepared to pick-up their child at Knoles on Thursday afternoon no later than 4:30.

If you intend to transport a child away from Snowbowl in your personal vehicle at the end of the day you must have a waiver signed by the school office to do so.  You may get this form from Ms. Shafer in the morning before we depart.  Parents who are not able to show this form may not transport their students in their personal vehicle until we return to the school building at 4:30.

We will all return to the rental shop at 3:00 to return our equipment and then to the school around 4:30 in the afternoon.  Please be prepared to pick up your child promptly.
