You probably already saw the email from FUSD this weekend announcing the debut of the Learning Hub the district has created in order to help you keep learning during the COVID-19 school closure.
With the closure of all FUSD schools in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Flagstaff Unified School District believes it is important to continue supporting student learning opportunities regardless of location.
As an educational institution we will continue to provide and support the learners within FUSD. We have developed the Digital Learning Hub with resources defined by grade level, content area, community supports within Flagstaff, social-emotional opportunities, special education resources and fun activities that will support this new remote learning environment. The educational resources support Arizona Standards and provide varied levels in order to support learning abilities.
We will continue to build out this site in the coming weeks with specific learning plans by week.
These resources are to supplement the work by Team FUSD as a baseline for teacher and family partnerships. Our team members are reaching out to families and we encourage continuing partnerships.
Families are encouraged to reach out to their child's teacher for additional needed support for instructional materials or questions. If families are unable to download any materials or need printed copies they may contact their site administrator for assistance.
Happy learning.
I've had a chance to look over the materials the district has provided and I'd like to draw your attention to a few that I think will be very helpful to you.
Most of you are already using Moby Max on a regular basis to practice your Math skills. I think that's great and hope you will continue to do so.
The Khan Academy has an excellent section of resources on the United States Revolution that begin right about where we left off in Social Studies class.
There are a bunch of great and informative feature stories and newsy articles to keep you informed on National Geographic Kids.
The text of George and Magician's Nephew aren't on the Learning Hub, of course. But you can still access them at the following links:

The Arizona Daily Sun is a always a great resource for staying up-to-date with Current Events. So is USA Today.
Look for an email from Ms. Beerling about Math this week. I'm sure she will have lots of good stuff for you to do.
Finally, Mrs. Reynolds has placed some learning resources for Human Body Science on her classroom webpage. I hope you will check them out soon!

In other news, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey just issued this statement this morning:
Bottomline: this means we won't be able to be together face-to-face as a class again.Look for an email from Ms. Beerling about Math this week. I'm sure she will have lots of good stuff for you to do.

In other news, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey just issued this statement this morning:
“In alignment with yesterday’s updated federal guidance, today we are announcing the extension of school closures through the remainder of the school year. Today’s announcement is intended to give parents and educators as much certainty as possible so they can plan and make decisions. While this isn’t the outcome any of us wanted, we are grateful for the partnership of schools around the state, who have stepped up to offer virtual and take-home learning opportunities for our students..."
I am so sorry.
This totally sucks, but I have no doubt it's the right thing to do.
I want you all to remember: you'll always be one of my kids, my last class, and one of my all-time very best classes.
I've loved absolutely every minute of teaching you this year!
You're each amazing, creative, talented young people.
Every one of you is destined to do Great things with your life.
